Conversations with Alice Sophie about Cello training
Tell me about yourself and your experience?
I am currently in my second year of my Master’s at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance and am developing my career as a professional cellist. I am building up my own string quartet (information soon to follow) and I play in many concerts which you can find on my website posted below.
I am a very enthusiastic teacher and have a passion for bringing out the best in each student.

What to expect in my first cello lesson?
The very first lesson with a new pupil is very exciting for me as a teacher because new students bring new undiscovered potential. It is my responsibility to adapt my teaching in such a way that the student is able to express themselves on the instrument.
In the first lesson I will most likely figure out what the experience of the student with playing instruments in general is. Then I am adapting my teaching style around the experience. The most important aim is to improve your playing technique in such a way that you are able to express yourself on the instrument even better.
Why should I start learning the cello?
The range of the cello represents the range of the human voice and therefore I always see the cello as an extension of the human being. I believe that playing an instrument can be a great outlet for emotion and also a source of energy in a busy life. It is a very beautiful instrument to learn.
