WKMT piano concert at the Residence of the Ambassador of Argentina

The 25th of May Revolution gave birth to the Republic of Argentina. The later is a somewhat simplistic way to describe what happened on the 25th of May 1810 in Buenos Aires. The celebration of this revolution is what took place in the magnificent residence of the Ambassador of Argentina in London.

Juan Rezzuto director of WKMT was appointed by the Cultural affairs department of the residence of the Ambassador of Argentina to help with the organization of the first musical concert of this important national celebration.

Carolina Aguirre Anderson performed Argentinian classical music by Ginastera and Guastavino. She played the historic Gaveau Grand PIano at the music room for the diplomatic reception of the event. The event was a symbol of communion between the British and Argentine governments. Carolina’s concert was followed by an English military string quartet which played the Argentinian anthem followed by “God save the Queen ”

Carolina’s repertoire was carefully chosen to showcase some of the most sophisticated music of Argentina. Tango is, undoubtedly, the most famous musical genre of Argentina. Nevertheless, the pieces selected for this performance represent a different part of the Argentinian society.
