Piano tuition on their way home

Nowadays, almost everyone has access to some type of technological device that can display any video at a moment’s notice. Thus, one could say that learning to play the piano, for example, through a video tutorial is now easier than ever before. As appealing as this sounds, there are people who will not believe that an in-person teacher can be easily replaced by a brief online piano lesson tutorial. Let’s be realistic, a piano teacher behind a screen somewhere on this planet cannot be as fruitful as an actual piano lesson with a piano teacher in London.

Despite society’s right to do something useful beyond their technological assets, the importance of human interaction should not be overlooked. Taking piano lessons, or any other musical instrument like guitar, with the teacher physically present is not easily matched. Mainly because playing an instrument requires precision. While teaching our students at WKMT, we do everything in our power to leave no detail to chance. We give importance to hand positioning while playing, fingers, and even the way forearms and muscles like triceps are positioned while playing. All these important details are not fully controlled through virtual piano lessons, no matter how good the cameras on computers or phones may be.

Someone may argue, what if I would like to consider piano lessons beyond the limit? Well, if you cannot leave your home due to distance, then the solution is to have the piano lesson take place in your own home. At WKMT, we have a team of professionals eager to teach students in the comfort of their own homes. Why is that, you may ask? Mainly because we have created our understanding of music to the extent that we want piano teaching to be accessible to everyone. If you cannot come to our place, then we take the lessons to your place.

Taking lessons at home has its benefits at the same time. We have noticed that some students choose to have piano lessons both at their homes and at music facilities. They express that being in the studio gives them the opportunity to interact with other people who also like music. They can exchange preferences, make friends, and feel comfortable from the cozy rehearsal rooms. They add, however, that having the lessons in their place is similar to a more intimate experience. They feel how they and their piano can merge while the rhythm of their unique music flows smoothly around their residence. The experience they describe is further reinforced by the fact that their piano instructor is right next to them, monitoring their movements, evaluating the actual notes and chords they are involved in, and most importantly,

All in all, despite technology being a great tool that helps us in our daily routine, there is nothing like having your piano teacher in the same room as you and your piano. Never forget that a flesh and blood teacher cannot be easily surpassed by a brief online video tutorial. You need a teacher with you who motivates you and evaluates body movements from all possible angles while you play. You need a teacher who can talk to you and answer any questions you may have, and in doing so, increase your knowledge as well as your motivation towards this beautiful and magnificent instrument we share some kind of passion for, the piano.
