Piano Masterclass for Children

After the success of our last Children Masterclass 1.11.2017, WKMT team decided to make a series of Masterclasses as a way to challenge our children piano students. It is also a great opportunity for our young children to relate to each other.

Piano lessons and piano training, in general, are quite lonely. It is a paradox how music, the most social of arts, can require so much ostracism for its preparation. Music is a social art and can only thrive if we share it.

The lesson is structured to last 2 hours. The children will:

1. Work on scales

2. Work on rhythm

3. Rehearse the pieces they are studying

4. Get general advise

5. Have fun!

We have noticed a lot of our students need more encouragement for their scale practicing. Our team has developed a series of activities oriented to make them have fun through practicing scales. We are going to organize a little competition so students can learn how scales should be performed as their fellow students performed them.

As a matter of fact, we are unable to analyse music when we are playing it in the same way we hear it when we listen someone else. Participating on these masterclasses will help our young students to acquire a taste for listening and analyzing music from a very early age. The difference between these experiences and attending a concert lays on the interactive quality of these piano masterclasses. Children will not only be listening to music, they will also be able to see how an interpretation can be modified through applying the observations made by their teacher.
