Alex Maclean, Liszt and a Jazz tune :)

This month I have been surprised to discover myself humming a jazz/soul melody over a Liszt chord progression!

I attended a jazz workshop and played piano chords from a chart and discovered that a good interpretation of the chord was dependent on it's voicing.

So the use of suspensions and 7th's or 9th's and the choice of voice leading is shared in classical and jazz pieces.

In the jazz notation however, this can generate an entirely new chord and bass note notation. This can be difficult to grasp for a classical pianist!
