Add something to your practice routine

When it comes to practice, I’ve realised this month after teaching a variety of classes, that everyone can find a natural way to make their practice fun. Add to your practice with either singing, tapping your foot, clicking fingers or clapping hands first. This can really add to your musicality and enjoyment of the repetition of exercises. For those younger or older students who think they aren't great singers and need to push themselves to sing out aloud, why not try using the beats in the bar as a vocal? It can be very off putting for non-singers to have to use vowel sounds so sing the beats in the bar instead, 1, 2, 3, 4 sounds a lot less scary than lay, lee, laa, low!
