"August is the month of performances in the Mediterranean" That was my teacher describing why he found this month to be the most enjoyable and busy at the same time. All the festivals near the sea, the master classes with brilliant teachers next to the best beaches, the great orchestras travelling to beautiful venues! That is what everyone is expecting right on that specific month. Being part of it is refreshing. It is cultivating and of course it is great fun!! During the past three summers I've been working on solo recitals, chamber music concerts, opera productions, even in junior string orchestras. There is nothing more inspiring than working with colleagues in the morning, and then go swimming! Nothing more relaxing than rehearsing on a production, and then go on field trips all together. Nothing more efficient than teaching outdoors viewing great landscapes. This past August things were very similar to what previously described. Island-hoping for concerts can be ideal. Starting from Santorini and a concert with a dear fiend, the famous Wagnerian mezzo-soprano, Julia Rutigliano. After these wonderful rehearsals and performance in Santorini, Aegina was next! An invitation to perform solo at the International Festival from the well-known pianist and artistic director Dora Bakopoulou. The islands have so much life, so much energy during that time, which gives you the greatest boost to perform and to express all feelings and ideas throughout amazing music. Now, at the beginning of the term, all plans have been made, concerts have been booked and we are all looking forward to a very productive three months until Christmas! Let the...work begin!
