SUMMARY:Monthly Musical Soirees at WKMT West Kensington Studio
DESCRIPTION:Monthly Musical Soirées at WKMT West Kensington Studio\nEvery third Saturday of the month\, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.\, our Kensington piano studio transforms into a warm\, after-hours salon where all our adult students of every level gather to play\, listen and simply bask in good company. \nHosted by Gisela Paterno—head of the branch and devoted mentor—these soirées are designed to feel more like friends meeting in a living-room than a formal concert: shoes stay on\, nerves stay at the door\, and the only rule is have fun and make music. \nThe evening opens with short solo spots: pianists premiere freshly polished repertoire\, composers can premiere their pieces and songs\, guitarists strum a new arrangement\, a flautist unwraps a jazz standard. As the night lengthens\, the format loosens into spontaneous jam sessions. One moment you might hear a Debussy prelude on the baby grand; the next\, a groove for piano\, bass and cajón\, or a gentle cello–guitar duet drifting over the chatter. Whether you bring a classical score\, a pop chart or nothing but curiosity\, there is always room in the circle. \nBut these soirées are more than just a social evening. They are an essential part of our pedagogical vision: a space where students can gradually grow accustomed to performing in front of others\, conquer their stage fright\, and begin to see performance as a natural extension of their musical journey. It is a nurturing environment where progress is celebrated\, nerves are normalised\, and music becomes a shared language. Importantly\, the soirées also serve as a preparatory platform for our annual WKMT Music Festival in June\, helping students gain experience and confidence on their way to a more formal public stage. \n  \nAround 8:30 p.m. the music pauses\, lids are lifted from casserole dishes and salad bowls\, and the performers head to a buffet table. Students “chip in” pot-luck style\, sharing everything from homemade empanadas to Tesco hummus. Laughter rises\, new collaborations are planned\, and the studio lights glow a little softer until someone can’t resist slipping back to the keys and the music naturally resumes. \n  \nIf you’re looking for a relaxed space to grow as a performer\, try out ideas\, or simply soak up inspirational energy\, our Kensington Musical Soirée is the perfect monthly ritual. \nBring an instrument\, a dish\, or just your ears—either way\, you’ll leave full of music\, conversation and fresh motivation. Join us on our Musical Soiree London.\n

His accolades include prestigious awards such as the Moses Haltzmark and the Extraordinary End-of-Professional-Degree Prize. In 2020\, he released a critically acclaimed double CD\, “90: Scriabin Complete Piano Preludes”\, celebrated for its passionate rendition. \nThroughout his career\, Pereira has engaged in festivals and masterclasses across various countries and has been featured in international media outlets. He has collaborated with esteemed piano maestros and has taught and lectured at events like the IKFEM. His research at the International Piano Archives at Maryland culminated in the publication of his “Pianistic Traditions” project\, delving deep into historical pianists and performance techniques. \nBeyond his performance career\, Pereira has authored books and articles\, and has served as the artistic director for international festivals. After residing in the USA and London\, he currently holds the position of professor and head of the keyboard department at the Professional Conservatory of Music in Vigo. \nJoin us in our upcoming course and benefit from Daniel Pereira’s vast experience and expertise. \nJuan Rezzuto – WKMT Founder & Director\nJuan Rezzuto is an established concert pianist\, experienced piano teacher and composer. \nRezzuto specialises in performing Haydn piano works solo and as a soloist with an orchestra. Through them\, the German genius showcases his evolution as a composer\, marked by continuous transformation and experimentation. These masterpieces unveil Beethoven’s virtuosity and imagination as a pianist\, who was also an exceptional improviser. The program features four of the most renowned sonatas\, composed between 1798 and 1806. Their familiar titles were later added by various editors. The piano sonata was the only musical genre Beethoven consistently engaged with throughout his life. \nFirst Part \nSonata op. 13\, Patética\nI. Grave; allegro di molto e con brio\nII.
